2023-2024 STUDIO Policies

LESSON AND PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS:
Daily listening and practice is required of all students. It is the parent's responsibility to play the child's daily listening assignments as well as to practice with him/her until the teacher determines they are ready to practice independently.
Students and parents should arrive at the lesson early, observe the last few minutes of the previous student’s lesson, and quietly get themselves and their violin ready before the starting time. Regular attendance of your lesson and group class is required to hold your place in the program. If you are running late or are unable to attend a lesson (group or private) please let me know.
Parents are to take notes during the lesson for at-home practice. Phones are to be used for taking notes and videos only. Video recordings are encouraged. Siblings are welcome to attend lessons as long as they do not distract. Parents are not to instruct during the lesson.
Students are to bring a studio-approved instrument and materials to each lesson. Parents are expected to keep instrument in proper maintenance and good condition and to make sure that student's fingernails are trimmed short enough to properly play. Per the request of the owners of our studio space, no food or drinks should come into the studio with the exception of water.
MISSED LESSONS AND CANCELLATIONS:
Missed lessons are not refundable, but I am happy to provide a make-up lesson upon request if I have scheduling availability. In the event that I have to cancel more than 4 lessons in a semester and we are unable to reschedule, your tuition for those lessons will be refunded.
There are 4 “teacher absence” days per semester built into tuition, however I rarely use these and almost always end up teaching them as “bonus lessons”. In the rare event that I miss more than 4 scheduled teaching days and am not able to make them up or reschedule, a refund will be given. I do not often teach online, but on occasion, online lessons may be substituted for in- person lessons if I have sickness or am traveling, or for some other unforeseen circumstance. Online substitutions do not occasion a refund. In the case of sickness, please do not come to your lesson - request an online lesson instead or reschedule.

I do not answer my phone during lessons but I love to hear from you during the week (text is best) and encourage you to reach out often with questions that come up during practice or to get feedback without having to wait until the next lesson. TUITION:
Tuition for Bluebird Violin Studio can be payed by the semester or by the month. There is a discount for semester payments. Monthly payments are due in advance on the 1st of each month. Tuition covers all lessons, classes & recitals at Bluebird Violin Studio and is payable in the following methods:
Cash or Checks: Please make payable to Shawna Dose.
PayPal: Send to Shawna.Dose@gmail.com. Please consider setting up automatic payments to avoid late fees. You will have to add a $5 transaction fee (per student, per month) for one-time PayPal payments, however I am happy to waive this fee if you set up automatic payments.
You can mail payments to P.O. Box 2103 Cleveland, TN 37320 or bring to your lesson before the 1st of the month. There is a $20 late fee for tuition received after the 1st of the month.
2023-2024 Tuition:
30 minute lessons + group classes: $155/month or $750/semester ($25 discount) 45 minute lessons + group classes: $210/month or $1025/semester ($25 discount)
60 minute lessons + group classes: $260/month or $1275/semester ($25 disount) Fall semester: August-December - Spring semester: January-May. Tuition includes 4 summer lessons. See the BVS calendar for details regarding schedule.
Tuition is expected to increase a small amount each fall, annually.
In the case of withdrawal from Bluebird Violin Studio, 1 month paid notice is required to give me time to fill your lesson opening. All tuition is non-refundable. I hold the right to terminate lessons at any time if I determine that we are no longer a good fit for each other.
MEDIA:
By enrolling with Bluebird Violin Studio, you acknowledge that pictures and video of your child can be used on our website or studio pages & marketing materials. First names only will be used, and will be omitted upon request of parent. If you are not comfortable with media usage, please let me know before joining.
